Review from the biggest danish musicmagasine GAFFA may 2007
"A dark and saturated big-city vibe, set against the sound of a half-noisy new wave frame. This trio from Copenhagen sounds to me like they used to be a punk band, but they have taken the pace down a notch and pulled out the night. The vocals are angry and without remorse, and all in all this seems to be a highly credible band. The lyrics revolve around the city of Copenhagen and its inhabitants and this goes well in hand with the driving base and the both Sonic Youth- and Cure-like guitar sound. In my opinion there is no equivalent to this band, and the band functions well in doing its own thing. Especially the first track has a clear quality to it and really stands out as the opening song on the EP. The right producer might make a difference, in pulling together the elements of the high-flying drums, the cold and sterile guitar, and the driving base. This would help to bring out the massive energy that is central to the three songs on the EP. I really love the whole big-city, Copenhagen-like attitude and it is my opinion that they should put a lot of weight on the more heavy tracks with the dense atmosphere and the cool dynamics, as opposed to the more energy-crazed parts of some of the songs. I am looking forward to see them perform on May 11th.
Live Review for our concert at Lades on May 11th.
"Two bands from Copenhagen played at the “Demo of the Month” show at “Lades Kælder” on May 11th. First up was “Opgang F”, who (on their EP) would lead your thoughts along the lines of the Danish band “Magtens Korridorer”, but when seeing them perform live the tune had changed immensely. They seemed now to be very inspired by Sonic Youth but with a lot of their own personal details added to the mix.
I rather like the shouting, Danish vocals but at the gig it took up too much space in the overall mix and thus stole focus from the rest of the music. And the music held a few surprises for this reviewer. On the EP, the band sounds a bit like they are playing above their average abilities but this impression was completely shattered at the gig. They played a really tight show and the trio certainly proved to me that the energetic and impressive feeling of the EP could easily be duplicated in a live-performance. Their songs are really good and catchy and I think it is a stroke of genius to combine elements of heavy-rock with elements of indie-rock the way they do. And when once in a while the base-player sings along with the lead singer, the trio then reaches the height of their abilities for me. The only flaw is the intrusive lead vocals and I should like to hear some more melodic tunes from the group.
